As Pope Benedict celebrated the Christmas eve mass he decried about the increasing commercialization. During the mass Pope Benedict urged the people to faithfully look beyond the celebration of glitter which is superficial.
After Benedict postponed the two week Christmas related public appearances he presided over the service at St.Peter Basilica. During Christmas the pontiff stamina and fatigue has increased in Benedict who is about 84 years and has slow down.
The eve mass has moved unto 10 pm which was before till midnight as Pope cannot stay till late night after speech. This year during the new concession the pope processed down the central aisle of Basilica over a platform for a long walk. During the mass Benedict appeared to hold up well in-spite of the late hour and the coughs which inter-upped his speech. When the homily Benedict lamented the Christmas and spoke about the Christmas celebration which is becoming commercial.
The celebration of Christmas is to show the Christ birth and needs Obscures the simplicity instead of consumerism.
